కఠిన చర్యలు: నిబంధనలు ఉల్లంఘించే కంపెనీలు, డీలర్లపై పర్యావరణ పరిరక్షణ చట్టాల కింద కేసులు నమోదు చేయాలని సూచించారు.
రైతుల్లో అవగాహన: గ్లైఫోసేట్ వాడకం వల్ల భూసారం దెబ్బతినడమే కాకుండా, పర్యావరణానికి మరియు మనుషులకు తీవ్ర ఆరోగ్య సమస్యలు వస్తాయని, ఈ విషయంలో రైతులకు సీజన్ కంటే ముందే అవగాహన కల్పించాలని స్పష్టం చేశారు.

Hyderabad: Farmers’ Commission Chairman Kodanda Reddy expressed serious concern over the illegal circulation of prohibited HT (Herbicide Tolerant) Cotton seeds and Glyphosate chemicals in the market. Presiding over a review meeting at BRK Bhavan, he questioned officials on how these banned items were still reaching farmers.
Key Highlights of the Meeting:
Strict Monitoring: Officials were directed to maintain constant surveillance on illegal shipments, particularly from Maharashtra, following the recent seizure of 96 quintals of HT cotton seeds in Narayanpet district.
Legal Action: The Commission suggested using Environmental Protection Laws to prosecute dealers and companies deceiving innocent farmers.
Health & Environment Hazards: Chairman Reddy emphasized that Glyphosate not only damages the soil but also poses severe health risks to humans. He urged the agriculture department to conduct awareness sessions for farmers before the commencement of the crop season.
